Beaches
Some reports of tailor and jewfish coming from North Narrabeen during the week. The tailor are being caught on WA pilchards fished on gang hooks. Best baits for the jewfish are Hawkesbury or green-eyed squid.
There are some nice bream being caught near South Narrabeen Surf Club using half pilchards and fresh strip baits (mullet and tuna).
There are some whiting around in the gutters at North Curl Curl and on Queenscliff beach. Beach worms are the best bait for targeting whiting. Fish the high tides for best results.
Rocks
Some large bream have been taken off the rocks at North Avalon, Mona Vale ledge, and off the rock ledge at Narrabeen pool. Peeled prawns and squid have accounted for most of the larger fish. Use plenty of berley to bring the fish to you.
We have also had some reports of large kingfish up to 15kg being landed off the rocks at Curl Curl and Queenscliff. Fresh green eye squid were the baits being used.
Narrabeen Lake
There are some decent bream being captured around the Jamieson Park dinghy storage area, Pipe Clay Point and near the cricket nets at North Narrabeen. These have been taken on beach worms, peeled Hawkesbury prawns, and soft plastics in the prawn profiles.
We have also had some reports of decent flounder being caught around Berry Reserve using prawns and fish baits.
There are still small jewfish being caught in the early evening near the Pittwater Road bridge on both soft plastics and squid baits.
Offshore
Not many reports this week, due to the conditions, apart from some good kings being taken around Newport reef along with some large Mac tunas schooling in the same area.
Pittwater
Large schools of Salmon are still schooling up around Barrenjoey Headland, off Mackerel Beach and West Head. These can be caught using small metal lures (3-10g) cranked back to the boat.
There are reasonable numbers of flathead being caught on the drift between Lion Island and Maitland reef using mullet fillets and soft plastics.
Flint and Steel reef has been producing some small to medium sized jewfish using fresh Hawkesbury squid strips.
