LIVE BAIT

We have live bait available on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (if not sold out prior).

Live yabbies and live tube and beach worms – both excellent baits for the beach and lake.

Beaches

Some good size whiting are showing up from Collaroy to Narrabeen and also at Dee Why. Live worms are accounting for the majority of better fish as are our preserved beachworms.

We have also had a few reports of decent sized school jewfish coming from North Narrabeen near the lake’s entrance. Green-eyed squid are by far the best bait for targeting these elusive fish.

There are some salmon around at Newport and Bilgola beaches fishing the gutters on dusk with pilchard and worm baits.

We have just restocked our beach rod holders both PVC and metal. Keep your reels out of the sand for extended life.

Rocks

Some decent snapper have been taken off the rocks over the past week. Fish up to 60cm have been landed and several bigger fish busting off disappointed anglers.

Warriewood and Dee Why headlands have also produced some solid bream, salmon and the odd kingfish with green eyed squid being the best bait again.

Narrabeen Lake

The Ocean St bridge area has been fishing very well with good sized whiting making and appearance during the week. There are also some flathead and flounder being caught around the lake park area on soft plastics.

The Jamieson Park area has some good-sized bream. These have also been caught in reasonable numbers at Middle Creek and around Berry Reserve. Hawkesbury prawns and half WA pilchards are the best baits for these sections of the lake.

After a long period of not being able to source decent Hawkesbury prawns we are finally starting to see some decent prawns being presented at the Sydney Fish Markets. Our buyers are at the fish markets daily to ensure we have stocks of prawns and quality squid for the busy summer season ahead.

Offshore

Water temp is currently 22deg and a slight southerly current is prevailing. Water is clean and blue.

Some good snapper (up to 3kg) were caught at Long Reef during the week all on green -eyed squid.

Dolphin fish are in good numbers and good sized fish have been taken on the FADs and Broken Bay wide areas.

Boltons, Reggie’s and Esmarelda’s are all worth a try for snapper and are also holding decent trevally at the moment. Fresh squid is the number one bait and plenty of berley is needed to get the bite happening.

.

Flathead can be targeted on the drift off Palm Beach in the 40m grounds with good catches during the week. Half pilchards and cut fish strips are working at present.

Pittwater

There have been some good mixed bags in Pittwater with catches salmon, flathead, swimmer crabs, and Kingfish all reported last week. There is still the odd school of bonito busting up around Morning Bay.
