Beaches

Although fairly quiet at the moment, we have had reports of some nice whiting being caught at Dee Why beach between the marker poles and the Dee Why lagoon entrance. Beach worms are the best bait for targeting whiting. Fish the high tides for best results.

There are also a few bream around with some decent fish being caught at South Narrabeen and Collaroy. Again beach worms were the bait used.

There are a few salmon and tailor being taken in the early evening off Curl Curl beach.

Rocks

A few more reports this week of large kingfish to 10kg being landed off the rocks at Curl Curl and Queenscliff. Fresh green eye squid and live baits were the baits being used.

Schools of long-tail tuna have been busting up within casting distance of some local rock platforms. These are excellent sports fish and worth targeting if you get a chance.

Narrabeen Lake

The lake is open and fishing quite well. The current rain tends to stir things up and the fishing in the lake should be great in the coming weeks.

There were plenty of flathead caught during the week from several places around the lake. Lake Park near the playground saw a few fish in the 45cm + measure caught and several decent fish were taken around the Pittwater Road bridges. Hawkesbury prawns and half pilchards are the best baits or try your luck with soft plastics such as bait junkies of crush city.

Some decent bream were captured around the Jamieson Park dinghy storage area, Pipe Clay Point and near the cricket nets at North Narrabeen. These have been taken on beach worms, peeled Hawkesbury prawns, and soft plastics in the prawn profiles.

Some decent luderick are being caught at the moment in the Lake Park area with some fish around the 40cm mark taken. They are taking both green weed and cabbage.

There are still small jewfish being caught in the early evening near the Pittwater Road bridge on both soft plastics and squid baits.

Offshore

Surface temp midweek was 19.2 with mixed current.

Some decent snapper (3-5kg) were taken in close at Newport reef using whole squid and pilchards. Plenty of berley is required to get them biting.

Dee Why Wreck saw mixed bags of tailor, snapper and kingfish.

Active feeding schools of long-tail tuna have been busting up in close during the week.

Pittwater

There are plenty of snapper in Pittwater at the moment on the drifts around Stokes Point and off Mackerel Beach. These were taken on salted pilchards and Hawkesbury prawns.

Schools of Salmon are still schooling up around Barrenjoey Headland, off Mackerel Beach and West Head. These can be caught using small metal lures (3-10g) cranked back to the boat.

Browns Bay and McCarr’s Creek are producing some solid bream caught on peeled prawns and mullet fillets.

Live Bait coming soon

Starting next Friday we will be stocking live worms (beach and tube depending on availability) and live yabbies. These will be available on Friday, Saturday and Sundays
