Narrabeen Bait and Tackle

Fishing Report – 14 February 2025

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY !

Fresh and Live Bait

We will have fresh live beachworms over the weekend as well as good quality local Hawkesbury prawns and Hawkesbury squid. There is no doubt that good quality fresh bait catches the best and most fish !

Beaches

Collaroy, North Narrabeen and Dee Why beaches have been fishing well for bream and the occasional whiting using Hawkesbury prawns and live beach worms.

There are also jewfish around with small to medium fish landed during the week at Dee Why and Long Reef. All fish were caught on local Hawkesbury squid or fresh green-eyed squid.

Nighttime fishing at both Manly and Freshwater has produced some large salmon and bream in good numbers using pilchards and beach worms.

Narrabeen Lake

Flathead are in good numbers in the lake at the moment with fish around the 60cm mark being taken at Jamieson Park and both Middle and Deep Creeks in the shallows. Hawkesbury prawns and fresh mullet strips have been the best baits.

Some decent sized bream are being caught towards the Ocean St bridge section of the lake and also at Pipe Clay Point. Slippery Dog lures have been working really well tempting some of the larger fish. Hawkesbury prawns are also accounting for some good bream.

Offshore

Dolphin fish are in good numbers at the moment at the Sydney North FADS and Broken Bay wide. Fish are up to 85cm in length so worth the trip out. Plenty of fish were taken on metal lures like the Samaki Pacemaker and the Halco Slidogs as well as pilchard baits.

Medium sized Snapper were taken at Long Reek at The Wall and also at White Rock all taken on fresh local squid,

Flathead are on the drift at Palm Beach in the 40-50m mark. Pilchards and fresh mullet fillets are the recommended baits.

Pittwater

Good sized schools of bonito and salmon are around the West Head, Careel Bay, and Stokes Point. They are taking small metal lures in the 5-10 gram size and also surface lures like Sugapens and slippery dogs.

Also good reports this week of some large kingfish up to 80cm taken on the western side of Scotland Island as well as Elvina Bay and Morning Bay. All fish were caught using fresh local squid.

The drift from Barrenjoey to West Head produced some nice flathead during the week using half pilchards and fresh mullet strips
